Παραθέτουμε το abstract της σεμιναριακής διάλεξης:
Motivated by recent works on protection blocks in the reliability literature, we introduce a new family of reliability systems that generalizes the r-modified family. The new systems exhibit a fundamental structural difference compared to their predecessors: instead of locking after the occurrence of a single working component, they now lock only after a run of d consecutive working components. This run of working components acts as the analogue of a protection block, serving as the local condition that activates protection; the subsequent r-1 components form the protected block, which becomes locked and is treated as non-failed. We derive closed-form expressions for the reliability of the fundamental members of this new family, and we show how these formulas recover well-known reliability results as special cases. Numerical results and simulations further demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework.
