SEA (CI)-TIES: Strengthening Economic Alliances in the wider Black Sea region, Through International Engagement and Shipping

We would be honoured to welcome you to the "SEA (CI)-TIES: Strengthening Economic Alliances in the wider Black Sea region, Through International Engagement and Shipping" hybrid event, organised in the framework of the European Maritime Day (EMD) in My Country, on Tuesday 21 October 2025 (from 10:00 to 17:00 EEST), in Chios (Greece)

The SEA (CI)-TIES hybrid event is being organised by the University of the Aegean (Greece), under the coordination of Dr Maria B. LEKAKOU, Professor in Maritime Economics, Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport, School of Business.

The objective of this event is to discuss with participants the current situation in the EU and a rapidly changing world, exchange on and identify not only the different challenges, but also the opportunities that appear for the shipping world and the local communities (i.e., port cities) and better understand the different EU and international cooperation frameworks from which they could benefit.

This hybrid event is planning to welcome a wide range of actors and stakeholders to discuss the importance of shipping and maritime transport for the development and growth at local (port cities), regional, and international levels, and explore opportunities for future cooperation.

Further to the hybrid event, the organisers will elaborate a document of recommendations, based on the outcomes of the conference, that will be submitted to the European Commission, and the respective pillar coordinators or priority areas of the different EU strategies in the wider Black Sea region (e.g., Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea Coordinator, EUSAIR Pillar 1 “Blue Sustainable Economy” Coordinators).

To ensure the smooth organisation of our event, we would kindly invite those interested to have proceeded with their registration by Friday 17 October.

Please be advised that participation in our hybrid event is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs, for on-site participation, are at the participants’ own expense.
